We Vibe

Someone said (or written somewhere, probably Tumblr) that it takes about a second or two for a person to make an impression. From their facial expression to the first word that slips out of their mouth, you've already made judgements and know if you both will get along or not. It's a human thing - our brain is wired that way whether we like it or not. Personally, when that does happen I try to approach a person with an open mind. And if they strike me with a negative vibe, I give them a second chance. Maybe their shy. Maybe their ice cream cone fell to the ground. Maybe my breathe stank. I don't know, but everyone has a story.

But then there are some people who just make it really hard for you to smile. It takes a lot of energy for you to play nice even given the second chance. You quietly think, "B--, don't kill my vibe". But it's killed and it's done. There's no turning back.

I wish I have a solution or advice on this note. But I've got nothing - let's be real. All I can say is that you try your best to smile and talk to them to understand how they work. If it's a personality thing, you can't blame them. If they suck - they suck (yikes, am I allowed to say that?). If anything, 90% of the time, they're shy and it takes a bit for them to warm up. And honestly, EVERYONE gets shy. Whichever the case may be, just be kind.
